Storytime - Old Wounds

Navimie frowned as Sevrus picked through the greens on his plate. “That stuff is good for you, Sev,” she said, in a firm voice.

“Says the person whose race resembles a grass eating bovine,” muttered Sev.

Navimie threw down her fork and crossed her arms, glaring at Sev. She opened her mouth for a sharp retort when Aimei interrupted them both with a wave of her hand, brandishing chopsticks.

“Nav, stop nagging him. It’s no longer your job.” She glanced over at Eurie who was pretending to ignore the entire exchange. “And Sev,” she added. “Those ARE good for you.”

“Says the other person whose race resembles a bamboo eating bear!”

“So if I say orcs resemble pigs,” said Navimie, “ Does that mean...”

“Yes,” interjected Eurie. “I can concur that Sev only eats rubbish.”

“You’re supposed to be on MY side,” said Sev, a smirk tilting the corner of his mouth. He coughed and grimaced, his hand going to his belly.

Navimie looked at him, concerned. “Is it my cooking or that old wound bothering you again?”

Moo looked up from his plate, mouth full of lettuce. “There is no cooking in a salad, Nav.”

Sev shook his head, and muttered a hasty apology as excused himself from the table. Eurie glanced at him as he left, and turned his calm, steady gaze to Navimie as Sevrus went out of earshot. “I think it’s getting worse.”

“What’s getting worse?” asked Moo.

“Remember that belly wound Sev got when we were fighting C'Thun? The one where it took 3 healers to get on top of the shadow damage?”

“Yeah, he was fine after that wasn’t he?”

Navimie wrinkled her nose. “Not really. Back then I wasn’t advanced enough to dispel the shadow magic that was in his body. We had no paladin back then. You know my healing spells are all nature based, so they can keep healing him when his body is damaged but I couldn’t get rid of of the shadow magic in that wound.”

“But didn’t that paladin healer who joined us when we were fighting against Magmaw do some healing session with Sev?” asked Aimei.

Navimie snorted. “That paladin was a main spec tank with some healing skills. That was a botchy job and didn’t really fix him.”

“Well, your healing is stronger now, can’t you just..” Aimei waved her hand.

“No,” said Navimie, a pensive look crossing her face. “But I think maybe I will talk to Sev about it.”

“Talk to me about what?" Sev walked back into the room, smiling at Eurie as he took his seat.

“Your old belly wound,” said Navi.

Sev gave Navimie a level glare. “You know I don’t like talking about that in company, Nav.”

Navimie threw up her arms. “Everyone here already knows about it or was there, Sev. No need to be shy amongst friends.”

Sev sighed. “Alright, what about my old war wound? I am fine.”

"Not according to Eurie, you're not."

"Is that so?" Sevrus gave Eurie a I'll-talk-to-you-later look before he turned back to Navimie.

"Going off to vomit all the time can't be healthy, and neither is ongoing belly pain," said Navimie, putting as much know-it-all healer pomp into her voice. "It might be good to see someone."

"I had actually given that some thought," said Sev. "And I think that I would like to go and do something about it whilst I'm still in good health."

"Navi, do you know anyone?" asked Eurie.

Navimie shook her head. "It's a pretty specialised procedure to get that removal right. At the moment it's kinda halted, but if it's progressing and spreading slowly..." Navimie's brow furrowed. "You have to undo the spell that slowing the spread first to be able to access the shadow magic and if you don't get it all contained or expelled from the body it can spread even faster than before."

"That sounds kinda dangerous, Nav," said Moo.

"Well, I can't just leave it as it is, Moo," said Sev. "It's every so slowly spreading, so in a few years..."

Sev paused for dramatic effect. Nobody wanted to think about what would happen then.

"Well, I've found someone," said Sev. "I was going to tell you tomorrow, but I might as well tell you now. I'll be leaving to go see them tomorrow morning."

"Are they good? I hope they are," said Navimie.

"I'm not stupid, Nav, I did SOME research. Heard that this Paladin is pretty good."

"Well, we'll miss you, Sev, when we're out raiding," said Navimie, patting her good friend. "I hope it goes well." She didn't want to think about what would happen if it didn't.

"Yeah, I guess I'll not be at raids for a while," said Sev, stretching with a yawn and getting up. "I'd better go and get some sleep if I have to head out tomorrow morning early." He muttered something under his breath, as he got up, and Moo let out a loud snort of laughter, whilst Aimei smothered a smile.

"Bye Nav!" Sev waved over his shoulder as he and Eurie hurriedly left Navimie's house whilst she turned with curiosity to Moo.

"You tell her," said Moo, nudging Aimei.

"He said," said Aimei with a grin, "And I'll go get a REAL meal before I go to bed."
