Guildleader Chores - Cleaning up the guild bank

One of the things on my to do list is sort out is the guild bank.  It was partially tidied when we moved servers by Lushnek, but really, it needs a total spring clean.  I mean, have a look at what's in the tabs:

The donation tabs are full of well meaning people but there is also a lot of crap in there!  I think I will have to start removing everything from it.

There is also a lot of empty space.  And you can see that there are no flasks or herbs in the guild bank because people have been supplying their own, and it is quite a cost.

And yes you can see all the Imperial Silkworms and Zeppelin kits that we stored in there as a joke as well!

One of the things that we don't do in our guild is compulsory guild donations.  We have an allowance for guild repairs, but at the end of the last raid we were running low on repair money and the guild repairs only covered a little of what was required.  At the moment it's still very low, and most people have to fork out their own cash for raid repairs.

We also don't have an excess of guild cash.  When Fue was GM he sold a lot patterns and the guild bank had a lot of money.  These days, nothing sells for much, so there hasn't been much of that, and so the guild bank only gets funds from questing, raids, dungeons and scenario completions as a guild.

I think what I might do is make only one tab for donations and make everyone constantly take stuff out, anything that's not taken gets sold.  But maybe I should make a separate toon for that so that I can separate out the gold from the guild bank from my own piddly gold pile.

I wonder what other raiding guilds banks look like?  It would be nice if our bank had enough money to get herbs to make flasks for raids so people don't have to supply their own but I think that may be a while off yet.  At least we're good on feasts for now...

  1. Do you guys give DKP for donations?

When SR used EPGP back in Wrath we would take donations from raiders/guildies in exchange for points.

This was very useful in making sure the bank is stocked.

During Cata I was in charge of donations. In order for a raider to get guild repairs they had to donate a certain amount of items. When the guild shrunk down some more we just quit that and just started asking guildies for donations when we needed something.

Our coffers got low a few months back and several generous guildies donated a bunch of gold to the gbank. So there isn't any harm in asking for help from the rich in game.

Good luck with what you decide to do. Keeping a gbank clean is a full time job!

    1. I don't think anyone cares enough about dkp anymore to bother! But I will see how we go - some of the socials like helping out too and dkp rewards don't do much for them. I shall have to put my thinking cap on!

  2. I see Runescrolls of Fort in there!!

The bank could be worse. I have seen people dumping their vendor trash into guild banks!

    1. A couple of our guildies like to use the bank to store their excess items when their bags and mailbox are full.

If the items are there longer than a day I sell em. :D

    2. I wonder why people put vendor stuff in there. Just vendor it! And I am going to clean all that crap out or maybe make an extra bank for it!

  3. The silkworms made me laugh because I swear that you have almost as many of them as Shadow Rising does.

  4. I think when raid flask are being provided most people don't mind making donations. In our guild we have had successful donations many times. Some times we turn it into a contest with prizes especially when we need specific items. As far guild revenue, offering guild repairs is a great incentive to getting guildies to run more scenarios, dungeons, & raids -- but if that's not doing it maybe try scheduling a specific nite for those things so ppl know what night others will be looking to party up.

  5. Over the weekend glyphs were going for 350g+ each. Currently it's not so good at 19g99. I suspect some cheeky soul is driving prices down to push sellers out and stock up on cheap stuff.

In defense of vendor crap, that's extra coin that goes towards the bank when they could have kept it themselves. It's not much, but every bit adds up. (Well, that's what I told myself anyhow, back when I had to deal with that crap! :P )
