This week's shared topic is from Spencer Nozell from Bemop:
We all know of the Seven deadly sins (Wrath, Greed, Sloth, Pride, Lust, Envy and Gluttony) and we all succumb to aspects of them at one time or another, but is there one particular sin that affects you more than the others when you play World of Warcraft? One sin? My goodness, I have had moments of them ALL!
This extraordinary and impressive painting is The Seven Deadly Sins and the last 4 things, attributed to Hieronymous Bosch, completed some time in the 16th century.Four small circles, detailing "Death of the sinner", "Judgement", "Hell", and "Glory", surround a larger circle in which the seven deadly sins are depicted: wrath at the bottom, then (proceeding clockwise) envy, greed, gluttony, sloth, lust, and pride in scenes from everyday life.At the centre of the large circle, which is said to represent the eye of God, is a "pupil" in which Christ can be seen emerging from his tomb. Below this image is the Latin inscription Cave Cave Deus Videt ("Beware, Beware, God Sees"). Above and Below the central image are inscription in Latin of Deuteronomy 32:28-29, containing the lines "For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them," above, and "O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!" below.
OK, I just wanted to put that cool picture in, but I couldn't do it without the explanations of all the parts of the painting. On to the show!
Other than the name of one of my spells, I have had moments of Wrath... a lot. And as all my guildies know, or at least those that listen on Vent when I am PvPing or arena-ing, is the fishmonger's wife that emerges when I am being ganked, harrassed and slaughtered. S***, f*** are both adjectives, nouns and verbs, did you know that? :D
Alright, I admit it. I ALWAYS run to every body to try to get all the cloth that's left behind there when people loot (it's part of the tailoring profession specialisation). If I see another person in the dungeon picking up cloth, I make a huge conscious effort to loot the bodies before them. Now with AoE looting, first clicker is best dressed. And that person is gonna be ME.
Everyone knows my sin here. I am extremely, pathologically LAZY at levelling. It's such a DRAG, I really do have to be dragged kicking and screaming to level. Every expansion, I groan and put my head down and slog at it, but if I didn't have to level, I wouldn't. I would just sit there at my current
One thing that I have immense pride in, is my achievement points. I talk about it a lot, I worry about losing it, I am happy when I still see I'm up there. I spent a lot of time trying hard to keep myself at number one. There are many others out there who have more than me, but none of them are in MY guild. Having that top spot in my own guild... just keeps me all puffed up. /chuffed
There aren't many lustworthy males in the World of Warcraft - but I do have crushes on all demon hunters (Illidan before he became demonic is damn sexy) but I think when Dragon Soul came out, everyone knew that I spent an inordinate amount of time looking at the Aspect of time in humanoid form.
OMG. Yum. The tatts, those eyes, that beard, those shoulders.... DO YOU THINK HE'D DATE A DRUID LIKE ME??? Don'tcha wish your girlfriend had hots like me? Don'tcha wish your girlfriend was a tree like me? Don'tcha..... :D
I hate admitting it. I always deny that it bothers me. But Ashes of A'lar is something that I absolutely adore and every time I see it, I really want one. But I don't like farming for it because that requires me to get lots of people, and then everyone will want it.
Did you know that Gluttony is not merely excessive eating or imbibing of alcohol (POLDRA, GUTSY, and GENOWEN are you reading this you goddamn alkos), but also was meant to include
- Eating before the time of meals in order to satisfy the palate.
(ie. no snacking, ZOMG)
- Seeking delicacies and better quality of food to gratify the "vile sense of taste."
- Seeking after sauces and seasonings for the enjoyment of the palate.
(what no sauce? no salt? no spices? OMG using these is a deadly sin???)
- Exceeding the necessary amount of food.
(OK, this is the definition I can understand, and am used to)
- Taking food with too much eagerness, even when eating the proper amount, and even if the food is not luxurious.
So there you go, me committing the seven deadly sins. But which, Spencer asks, is the one that affects me the most in World of Warcraft?
I would have to say yes. And that one is PRIDE. What do you guys think?
