Figuring out how to make a toon on an EU server should be a post all on its own! With Rioriel missing from his blog and from Twitter, I couldn't ask him how to do it... but then late on Tuesday night I saw him tweeting, so I quickly dashed off to ask him!
I had also asked Ironyca because with all her WoW Factor shows, she would have to switch from EU to US a lot to get around. She linked me to WoW Roleplaygear's site where Noelani had written a post about it. He should put that on the side so people could find it, I wouldn't have known about it otherwise (and I follow his blog), but I've got it stuck here now so I can find it if I need to.
It looked so complicated! But then I was saved from corrupting my files by Rio telling me he just installed another WoW version and made an account there. So I thought ok, that sounds easy I'll do that.
So who should I visit first? I was excited. My first EU visit! Aralosseien has links to her toons on her site so I could surprise her, but Godmother of Alt:ernative Chat is on, and I won't be able to surprise her but I could ask her if she'd mind! She was tweeting at the time so I asked her permission to visit her and she seemed delighted that I was going to come visit.
It was shutdown on US servers, but EU servers were still up! That was cool, and interesting to know. The well dressed Godmother came to visit me in Teldrassil and doesn't she look fetching with her Frostscythe of Ahune!
She had matching pets! Now I have always admired Euphyley's trio of pink flamingos but Godmother had a trio of black panthers! They made for a very impressive troupe.
I was so excited to meet Godmother, and I told her so with a big squeeee! She pfft'd me for being all squeee but I was very chuffed. We had a lovely long talk about things from blogging, to meeting up, attitudes in game, alts and making money! I was naughty, I stayed up WAY past my bedtime to chat, but it was so thrilling to meet another of my blogging heroes that even when I went to bed I couldn't sleep anyway, my brain was all abuzz. She reminded me a lot of Tome of the Ancient, and she even said that she totally gets where Ancient is coming from.
It was a fantastic meetup, it was so nice to know that one of the people I admire so much was as lovely in the flesh/pixel as she is on her blog - not that anyone has disappointed me so far, oh no. But then I wouldn't choose people to visit who didn't want to be visited! Godmother seemed so genuinely thrilled and honoured to have me visit her that I was encouraged, and she hoped I would drop back any time to chat. And my lord, she's a fast tweeter.
Consider yourself Navispammed, Godmother!
