Yes, from the books I thought he was supposed to be Medivh's apprentice too. All in all, I loved the movie though - hope we get more.
TherellianAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139205590317840868.post-69955320951739587322016-06-22T13:35:38.994+10:002016-06-22T13:35:38.994+10:00HI Therellian! I think that is where lore let me down - I was expecting someone more sly and cunning, someone who seemed omnipotent but that is because that's how I imagined him to be! Also, Medivh seemed to imply that Khadgar would be the next Guardian but he wasn't his apprentice, like in the lore, so that didn't quite make sense to me. If he was his apprentice, I could understand that comment a bit more. Thanks for the comment :DNavimiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08504557372435466448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139205590317840868.post-5812584100111864952016-06-22T13:20:58.695+10:002016-06-22T13:20:58.695+10:00Hi Navi, I thought they portrayed Medivh very well...Hi Navi, I thought they portrayed Medivh very well - not a classic villain like Guldan, but a small-minded man jealous of his position. The appearance they gave him, his abuse and snarky comments to Khadgar, about "looking around, to see what changes you'll make when you take over," or something along those lines - all added up to man who was a villain not because he had some grand vision of conquest but because he was too selfish and shallow to do good.
As to why Lothar was so negative about Khadgar, I don't really get that. It did seem that was artificially thrown in to increase the contrast between Khadgar the bumbling underdog at the start and Khadgar the hero at the end...
- TherellianAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139205590317840868.post-67309274836762390792016-06-22T00:03:17.284+10:002016-06-22T00:03:17.284+10:00I was referring to Xmen in particular, with Avenge...I was referring to Xmen in particular, with Avengers they all have their own movies and development already, so it's not quite as overwhelming as it is with the number of people in Xmen. You can see with Avengers they only introduce very few new characters at a time - and you would get a lot more out of watching Civil war if you had seen Ant Man, Avengers, Ironman and previous Captain America movies. So really the only new characters in Civil war was Black Panther and the villain Baron Zemo. In the WoW Cinematic universe that wouldn't be implausible - as Medivh was demon influenced, so too is Gul'dan, and perhaps the demon within Medivh wanted to pass its seed of influence through an orc onto Garona. The mind boggles. That would also have helped her, I think!

I think the movie was not a 1/10 like some people said. Clearly they did not see the latest Fantastic Four movie. The movie has heart, and you just have to open up your mind and look, like we all did.Navimiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08504557372435466448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139205590317840868.post-86962188008580500542016-06-21T09:42:48.265+10:002016-06-21T09:42:48.265+10:00I can understand him getting scorned by other magi...I can understand him getting scorned by other magic users, but from warriors and kings? Not sure. I would think that would welcome any sort of help from a magic user, as the Kirin Tor tend to keep to themselves and out of world politics.

I'm glad your friend liked it. I also felt like critics had a NEED to put the movie down for "daring to be bigger than it should be". Yes movies based on video games have a history for being a bad rap. But this movie is the highest grossing video game movie to date and yet nobody seems to care about that. Well, I care! :DNavimiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08504557372435466448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139205590317840868.post-17302224675449426412016-06-21T07:34:38.783+10:002016-06-21T07:34:38.783+10:00In relation to Garona / Medivh having a child - I ...In relation to Garona / Medivh having a child - I think that's unlikely in the movie lore, which here was noticeably different from the games. One scene where Medivh discusses the love he had met while travelling heavily implied Garona was Medivh's daughter.Sevrushttp://www.frostwolves.com.aunoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139205590317840868.post-62564188223325721682016-06-21T05:10:46.984+10:002016-06-21T05:10:46.984+10:00Good review Navimie, I would agree with everything...Good review Navimie, I would agree with everything you said. I thought the movie was entertaining, and my wife who does not play enjoyed it. She even mentioned starting the game to explore the world she saw in the movie. Not sure why the critics slammed it so badly. Everyone I have talked to said it was worth seeing. In a way, he's this movie's Finn. I mean, Antonidas (sp?) more or less called him a traitor!

It should be noted that Khadgar and the Kirin Tor appear to be quite cozy with each other in WoD, though. Aw, isn't that nice.

We brought a friend with us that wasn't a player, and he liked it just fine. I've read the negative reviews and after seeing the movie I'm not sure what they're on about. In some cases (WoW columnist on MOP for example) I get a sense that they absolutely NEEDED to find things to hate in that movie.

Hopefully the China numbers will get us a sequel. The Warcraft universe is so full of stories to tell. We could be getting one every year or two and go well past the end Marvel's Phase 4.Grimmtoothhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14384688484347073287noreply@blogger.com
