Navispam - Meeting up with Saundin IRL

Saundin, from Non-Squishy heals, is a well travelled individual.  He spends a lot of time away from home working and he's been so busy this past year, I have hardly see him online except for those early hours of the morning (and I've given up my early morning WoW, in favour of the OMG-what-time-did-u-go-to-bed WoW).

We've been friends for a while now.  Look, here's a picture of me navispamming him 2 years ago. Gosh, I think we've known each other since July 2011.  Well that's when I participated in his Healing Ring 2.0 questionnaire and I see my comments peppered through his blog from around that time.

RealID was so useful - he was the first person who wasn't in my guild that I realID'd so I could find him and chat to him.  It's a great way to find someone who is a severe altoholic.  These days, Btag and RealID make it so easy, you wonder how you did without it. These days, Saund has a few alts in my guild and he's one of our socials who just pops in every now and then between toons.

Saund makes such frequent trips to Sydney and they're always on a Wednesday - he's asked me a few times to catch up.  Wednesdays are where I work really far form home and I used to have the kids with me so I couldn't see him in the city.  And also, Wednesdays are raid day - OK, so I'm really slack and I want to make sure I am home to raid.  What?  Come on! I love raiding!  Wednesday is the best day of the raid week!

However, this time when he came up he had a fantastic idea - he was going to come to ME!  I felt bad putting him out, and he was going to go all the way out into the sticks where I work, and I thought about it and what was better, was if he would come and meet me close to home!  So he jumped on the train and we met up at my closest train station and he and I went for some frozen yoghurt - I am such a big sucker for the stuff!

He said he would wear his Alliance T-shirt. So of course, I turned up in my Horde one.  At least it made it easy to find each other.  As long as he wasn't flagged for PvP, of course.

So we chatted away for about 3/4 of an hour, about WoW, alts, raids, work, kids, family, exercise... all the usual things we talk about.  I laughed because he REALLY does look like his human toons!

Man doing this SUCKS without Photoshop - did this in Paint whilst at work.  Super shaky hand!
It was lovely to catch up Saund, and I hope we can do it again sometime!  Thanks for making the huge effort to come out to my corner of Sydney :D (though I know you keep saying that it wasn't a huge effort - but it meant a lot to me!)

  1. Wow, he really does look like his character there. Even wearing his helm, damn, that's commitment!

    1. LMAO Ancient! YOu can see his pic on his blog, but he does have an eerie resemblance - though being bearded and male and human may be part of that...

    1. I don't have the proximity enemy addon you have... otherwise it would have been going crazy!

    2. Besides, Luxy, you Frostwolves have been corrupting me - I'm playing my Horde toons more than my Alliance toons! ... Now exsue me while I go and wash my mouth out :D

  4. Never having met Navi before, I needed to come up with a T-Shirt that would enable us to find each other easily ... I did try to get my Ally Paladin to look as close to me as possible, so the resemblance isn't completely by chance.

Going through Sydney so often it just seemed wrong to not catch up with Navi - My work schedule just hadn't been conducive to one of her free nights.

And of course I wasn't going to say that I had one night free and that she had to come to me. Alliance I may be, but I *do* have some manners :D

It was certainbly great to catch up and I hope it won't be the last time!
