Minipost: Vendoring vanity pet makes me feel sad
I love my Vanity pets but I have given one particular pet to as many good homes as I could, as well as filled up my own pet slots and all my friends' pet slots. You can probably guess which pet that is...
... the Imperial Silkworm.
Now when I open my Silkworm Cocoon I feel sad when I see yet another Imperial Silkworm in there. I vendored one and I felt so terrible that I haven't done it again. Poor little Silkworm, nobody to care about it!
I guess, one good thing, at least if I start on a new server, I can always pull one of these out and vendor them there for a 12 silver to get ahead. At least that I can live with, even if I have to look at their sad little face from the vendor as they go into the nether of unwanted vanity pets.
Too bad I can't keep some in my bags and set them to work so I could get a few more Imperial Silk.

I know! These are overflowing my bags, I have the max three and I don't know anyone who wants one. Poor little ubiquitous Silkworm!
ReplyDeleteI can't bear to have them abandoned!
DeleteI guess I should log in with Kamaleia on Dath'Remar and see if there's a dead silkworm in my mailbox, then :P
ReplyDeleteHmm, nothing in my mailbox, so if there had been a silkworm in there at one time, by now it's definitely dead. :(
DeleteAha! Guess who is gets to adopt one!
DeleteEee, thank you! So cute, for a bug :P
DeleteI named it "Catie" (the Caterpillar) :D
They really do have the worst faces for deletion. It's something about those eyebrows.
ReplyDeleteOMG deletion??? I could never...!
DeleteExactly! The happy/innocent face!
DeleteI have only seen the silkworm once. I got impatient and bought mine on the auction house. Same with the moth, except I haven't seen one in a cocoon yet. It's very sad!
ReplyDeleteOh, please, take some!
DeleteI managed to sell a couple in the AH - not for much though. Better than vendoring for sure.
ReplyDeleteI still can't bear to do even that... I don't think I've sold any pets on AH.

ReplyDeleteI have taken to advertising free silkworms in trade chat. I can usually get rid of 1 or 2 that way, but I still have a bunch of these hanging around.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a good idea! I think I should do that.
DeleteYou know, Z only has two of them. A third would be greatly appreciated.
ReplyDelete;)
Incoming!
DeleteWOW, so cool. I like it. thankyou .
ReplyDeleteI've sold a couple on the AH and I gave one to some low level who had just started playing but I'm back up to three with at least 1 in the guild bank that no one seems to want to adopt :(
ReplyDeleteI wish we could either release them into the wild (so that you can actually see them running around and visit) or maybe add them to our farms or something.
I've got a spare Moth looking for a good home too if anyone in the EU still needs.
I don't know why I've never put mine on the AH. I guess it's because I'm not really a big AH person (ie I never make any money!) I also wish we could release them into the wild.
DeleteThis is a verys sad post indeed :(
ReplyDeleteIt's sad if I have to vendor them :(
DeleteOmgosh Navi! Finally someone who understand me! (lol) My husband and guildmates are all "they're just pixels ya know", but I'm still sending mine off to be adopted... I just can't bring myself to vendor them. (Luckily I still know people who have free slots!) Now, if pet battles could just finish like real duels: the pet begs for mercy at the last minute and is cast as the looser, you win just the same... I hate killing them! :(
ReplyDeleteAnou you are so spot on! I'm glad someone understands what I'm talking about! I just can't imagine any other pet that you vendor. I even feel bad for the winter helpers even though I have enough of those too!
DeleteLoL The Winter Helpers are another problem! Luckily it's only once a year and there are always new players that don't have them yet the following year... right?
DeleteI have logged a ticket with Blizzard about the concern for lost or abandoned pets. I have suggested maybe a "Lost Pets Home/Shop". I am waiting for a reply (might be a couple of weeks though) :)
ReplyDeleteStay Posted
Sabre
:D I like your thinking Sabre LOL
DeleteWe keep putting ours in our guild bank! With 400+ members they go slowly slowly!
ReplyDeleteI think I've given it to most people already Elsen, but I think I've just remembered one person I might have overlooked!
DeleteSilkworms remind me of my surplus zucchini/courgettes. Suddenly you have way too many and they look too good to just throw away or compost. You try giving them away to friends and family, but what happens after you saturate that market?
ReplyDeleteI've heard of some people breaking into cars and leaving surplus veggies in the back seat!
I can imagine someone on trade "Send me your surplus Silkworms! Give me 1g and I guarantee I won't delete them! -Shady Acres Pet Home"
But I would have a sneaking suspicion that they would just take them and vendor them themselves! I would need a guarantee or some sort of certificate saying "Certified humane adoption of vanity pets".
DeleteI mail mine off too! Or at least auction them! I can't stand their cute little eyes "Y U LEAVE MEE"
ReplyDeleteAs a non-Tailor, I had no idea that this is where these pets even came from. Time to make a Tailoring friend on my server! :)
ReplyDeleteNo don't do that! Let me give you one to adopt!
DeleteWhy do I feel like I'm doing you a favor when you're doing me a big one? Thanks :D
DeleteI can't give these things away, because I'm pretty sure I have given them to everyone I know already!
ReplyDeleteMaking a blog post about it had the most excellent side effect - finding homes for all my baby silkworms :) that was an unexpected silver lining!
