Starstruck? Fanboy? OMG, that's ME!

It made me laugh to see Dragonray's shared topic at Blog Azeroth this week:
Are you starstruck by anyone? Does someone in the community respond to a post or a tweet and get you all speechless because they actually responded? Is there anyone you are waiting to have respond directly to you? Is there someone that you would like to chat to, but are too chicken? Am I the only one who puts other bloggers on a pedestal?

I don't know if anybody is a bigger fanboy than me... about EVERYTHING!!!  My guildies laugh at me constantly going all agog about people who visit my blog or talk to me, but the funny thing is that the person doesn't even have to be famous to send me all fanboy crazy!

I go all OMG comment, whenever I get a new comment.  I try to make it a personal goal to answer every single comment because I love that people come and visit me.  I've decided now that answering it personally is even better, so I've stopped the multi person reply comment and gone back to one on one replies.  So, if anyone, a new blogger or old, comes to visit me, I get starstruck by them because I go all nutty and I go to their blog, read over their last 10 posts and then start going comment crazy.  The first example of that would be Tome of the Ancient.  A long long time ago, she mentioned that she read me, she left a comment and after that I can't leave the poor woman alone!  I hang on her skirttails and comment on EVERY post because I am now one of her biggest fans :)

OK, maybe this picture is a bit disturbing...

I think Cate J, Pando can relate to my spamming.  Every time they visit me, there is a spate of me rushing over to their blogs to see what else I have missed and commenting like crazy.  Fanboy to the max! Dragonray herself knows this from experience.  Ever since she mentioned her lonely warrior on Dath on Twitter, and I invited him to Frostwolves so he would have a guild, I have spammed her blog like there was no tomorrow.  Mataoka is the other person I'm a huge fan of, and it amazes me that she is still so sweet to me in return when I say the darnedest things!

My first realID SQUEEEEE came from Saunder.  He was the first blogger to give me his details for realID and I was so thrilled that he wanted to talk to me I was yap yap yap non stop, and even now, the poor guy probably regrets it (LOL maybe not!) because when I see him get on, I'm chatting to him when he's probably trying NOT to die in D3.

Now my guildies can relate now, to my fanboy moments IN guild.  These moments:
  • Glowbie - Glow tweeted me when I once when to visit her and then she got online and I DID go and visit her!  And then she had a toon on Dath and I invited her to the guild for social and I was all "OMG it's GLOW, you know Glow whose strats we read? OMG she's talking to me, OMG she is in the guild OMG"  All my guildies took to her like ducks to water, and though she doesn't play much now, my guildie readers who see her stop and say hi if she gets online.
  • Big Bear Butt - that started from a comment Ancient made.  After that, Mr Bear noticed little old me and has visited me occasionally!  Even my guildies said "Navi DID you see, Big Bear Butt visited YOUR blog!"  Like I didn't see but OMG even they know how much of a fan I was of the Bear!
  • Keelhaul - well, I was writing about him, but he actually visited me! OMG that was breathtaking.   Everyone's like "Keelhaul who?"  and I said "Keelhaul, the MOGFATHER, OMG go read this article, look at WoW Factor!!"
  • Cynwise - left a comment once.  I nearly screamed myself hoarse telling Aza and Lushnek "OMG Cynwise visited my blog OMG he visited a post that was so MEH Oh God what if he read about my PVP noobness and thought you druid moron!!!" Well, at least Aza knows who Cynwise is :)
And I swear to God Allah Buddha the Force that JD of Amateur Azerothian has stolen thoughts STRAIGHT OUT OF MY HEAD.  He has said exactly what I wanted to say (he keeps doing that??  Why!  How!!) and that is that every reader of my blog has me starstruck.  I value each and every one of you (yes, even you Cymre and I've known you forEVER)!  And everytime we do those Laid Back raids, I get starstruck again meeting new people and bloggers!  (See this week's fanboy post!) And I guarantee that if you leave me a message and you have a blog - your blog will suffer from Navispam as I fanboy you to death! :D

  1. Is it that bad to say fangirl? Fanboy sounds so wrong... but I've known that about you from the time I saw that huge superhero poster on your college wall.

When you said the number of years in response to my post, it does sound like a very long time :P

    1. Fanboy sounds better I think. Fangirl... I think of squealing teenage girls squealing at Bieber - WAIT, that IS what I do!
But if I want to be politically correct I suppose so I don't offend people... maybe I should be saying Fanperson hahahahaha

  10. I should point out that not long ago, I was also a very noob Druid PvPer. It was only after some druid bloggers took pity on me - emphasis on the pity, you had to see my resto UI to believe it, omg I was so bad - and taught me the druid way that I can hold my head up and say "yeah, I have a druid. She's a badass healer."

(Even after months of practice I mostly know that I need to keep getting better, there's so much to learn OMG.)

Does this mean I get Navispam now? I love me some Navispam! :D

Cynwise, does your wife and kids ever wonder why other bloggers (coz I know I'm not the only one... AKABEKO) go OMG Cynwise visited me, replied my tweet... etc? I'm sure you are bemused by the whole thing as well! :D
Oh my, more Navispam? You may regret ever saying that Cyn :)

    2. My wife keeps me pretty grounded. Not only is she waaaay smarter than I am, she isn't easily fazed by internet things (she works part time on a community management team for a large web company.) My kids are still pretty young, so they know Dad writes on the internet but it's all very abstract to them. My son knows who Cynwise is, and someday (when I let him play WoW more again), he's going to level up his Orc Shaman and we're going to FIGHT and he's going to BEAT ME.

I have been known to send him to his room for inappropriately cheering the Horde when they beat the pants off me in Warsong Gulch.

My daughter is enamored with the pets and mounts and sights and sounds of it all. Mostly she comes over, sees what I'm doing, and asks in her sweetest voice, "Daddy, can I *please* see the turtle?"

Then if I comply I get TURTLE TURTLE TURTLE OKAY HOW ABOUT THAT ONE PIG PIG PIG PIG WHAT IS THAT HOW ABOUT THAT WHAT IS THAT.

... there are pros and cons to this experience.

  11. I absolutely do not regret it. It's great talking to other Aussies and other bloggers. It is also good to actually see a friend on when I'm on at bizarre times of the day :D

In the end, please don't apologise for who you are, I'm sure none of want to change you!

    1. This is true, often you are the only Aussie I see at the times of day I seem to log on (ie, when I'm supposed to be working...)
I'm not apologising for who I am exactly... I guess that sometimes my exuberance can be a little overwhelming.
